The Railway Protection Force (RPF) will expand its technology-driven passenger assistance initiative by setting up RPF Assistance Management System kiosks at eight more railway stations in Tiruchi Railway Division. This follows encouraging response from the travellers and prompt response mechanism from the RPF.

The help kiosks are to be installed at Tirupadrippuliyur, Needamangalam, Mannargudi, Vellore Cantonment, Tiruvannamalai, Thanjavur, Nagore, and Karaikal railway stations to deliver smarter and more responsive railway security services.

The Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, Balak Ram Negi, has accorded approval for the installation of RPF help kiosks at eight stations. The project was first introduced at Srirangam railway station in November 2025 and was subsequently extended to Chidambaram and Puducherry stations in February.

The kiosks were developed in-house to bridge the gap between passengers and the RPF at railway stations where there is no permanent RPF presence. The kiosks enables passengers to instantly report security concerns, seek medical assistance, report lost property, request seeking emergency help or communicate directly with the RPF control room through a simple and user-friendly interface.

Every complaint is transmitted instantly to the RPF post enabling prompt response and effective grievance redress. As of July 25, the RPF help kiosks have resolved 75 complaints received at Srirangam station; 38 at Chidambaram station and 24 at Puducherry railway station.

The nature of the complaints have been diverse such as lost items, medical assistance, security-related complaints, harassment and theft. The kiosks were not merely complaint registration points but comprehensive passenger assistance centres capable of responding to a wide spectrum of needs.

The initiative has been particularly beneficial at stations without an RPF post by providing passengers with a visible sense of security, direct connectivity with RPF personnel, and immediate assistance during emergencies. The system has received encouraging feedback from passengers, women, and senior citizens because of its simplicity, accessibility, and prompt response mechanism, a press release from the Tiruchi Division said.
