A devoted mum’s young children were inside their Clyde North home when she was allegedly murdered by her partner.

Brooke Timmins, 29, was remembered by her family on Monday not for the circumstances of her death, but as the “mother, daughter, sister, auntie, friend and beautiful person she was”.

“Brooke had a huge passion for basketball and especially loved coaching. She gave so much of her time and heart to the sport and to the people she coached, encouraging and supporting those around her,” they said in a statement.

“She was kind, caring and deeply loved by so many people.

“Brooke had her whole life ahead of her and deserved the chance to watch her children grow and experience all the beautiful moments still to come.”

The Timmins family said the 29-year-old’s children, who were at the home when police arrived, were her whole world, and she deeply adored by her family.

Roof tiler Jorden Turney, 32, of Clyde North, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with Timmins’ murder.

The court heard he will undergo examination from a custody nurse as police try to piece together what led to Timmins being critically injured at the Generation Drive property about 6.30pm on Sunday. She died later in hospital.

The court heard Turney had a history of psychiatric illnesses and self-harm.

The prosecution also asked for extra time to prepare their brief of evidence, which they indicated would include medical material and analysis of a mobile phone.

Magistrate Vincenzo Caltabiano noted there was no application for bail and remanded Turney in custody until November 30.
