Wellington coastal highway closed between Pukerua Bay and Paekākāriki

Part of a major coastal highway on the Kāpiti Coast has closed after a serious crash.

State Highway 59 was shut between Pukerua Bay and Paekākāriki after a collision between a car and cyclist shortly before 6pm on Monday.

Police said the cyclist was seriously injured.

NZTA said drivers were advised to take State Highway 1 Transmission Gully between Porirua and the Kāpiti Coast or to delay their journey.
