Swaralaya, a cultural organisation in Palakkad, organised a musical programme titled Oru Vattam Koodi here on Sunday (July 26, 2026) to commemorate the contributions of legendary playback singer S. Janaki.

The programme was held at the M.D. Ramanathan Hall of Chembai Memorial Government Music College. Koodiyattam artiste Kalamandalam Sivan Namboodiri inaugurated the event.

Swaralaya president N.N. Krishnadas presided over the function. Secretary T.R. Ajayan welcomed the gathering. Swaralaya office-bearers K. Mohandas, Mohammed Kasim, K. Vijayan, Vasanth Parakkatt and N.V. Sreekanth shared their memories of S. Janaki and paid tribute to the singer.

Around 30 singers participated in the musical tribute, rendering some of S. Janaki’s popular songs, including Oru Vattam Koodi, Lokam Muzhuvan Sukham Pakaranayi, Manjanippoonilavil, Thaliritta Kinakkal, Sharike, Ente Janmam and Aa Nimishathinte Nirvrithiyil.

Artistes including Prathibha, Shruthi, Sushitha Ajay, Aswathi Unni, Jayaprakash, Easwaran Namboodiri, Nishanth, Gopika, Vishnu, Abhirami, Shanthi Pattathil, Dhyanalakshmi, Santhosh Nambiar, Aishwarya Sajith, Justin, Ishani, Vaiga, Ramakrishnan, Deepa and Maya Lakshmi performed at the programme.
