Over 11,000 applications were received for Telangana Government’s Indiramma Houses (flats) in Hyderabad (CURE) limits till Monday early afternoon, since launch of the scheme on July 20. The last date to apply is August 10.

Out of the proposed 1 lakh houses in Core Urban Region (CURE) in one year, the government announced to construct 7,680 flats in 16 Assembly constituencies in the first phase of the scheme. The Telangana Housing Board in its official brochure stated that a lottery would be conducted if the number of applications exceed the number of houses constructed. Applicants have to be resident of the constituency, as per the eligibility criteria. The lottery would be conducted for each of the constituencies.

It was learnt that besides the list of beneficiaries, a waiting list may be selected. In case any of the beneficiaries selected in the lottery opts out, people from the waiting list would be allotted the house.

While the government would provide subsidy of ₹5 lakh per flat, beneficiaries have to pay ₹6 lakh in four installments. Besides application fee of ₹100, people have to pay ₹10,000 earnest money deposit (EMD), which is refundable.

Several people aspiring to own a flat have called on Telangana Housing Board’s toll-free helpline number 040-24603572 with queries on the procedure to apply, eligibility criteria, about the ₹10,000 earnest money deposit (EMD) that has to be paid during the application stage, if the EMD will be refunded if not selected, issues while applying through MeeSeva website, payment and others. People from districts outside Core Urban Region (CURE) too have called to check if they too can apply for the houses in Hyderabad.
