While Kingdom Hearts probably still takes the cake for the strangest Disney tie-in, Twisted Wonderland, a gacha game that reimagines Disney characters as hot anime boys, certainly comes pretty close. The series’ anime adaptation is getting a second season, and Disney Japan just revealed that it’s streaming exclusively on Disney Plus this December.

The upcoming season will be centered on the Savanaclaw dorm, which is styled after Scar from The Lion King. That means there will be a lot of catboys this time around. For those unfamiliar with this series, Disney Twisted Wonderland is a mobile game set at Night Raven College, a school where each dorm is themed after a different Disney villain. However, instead of a single anime boy directly representing a bad guy, each of the dorms is vaguely based on a villain. For instance, there are multiple heartthrobs styled around The Little Mermaid’s Ursula.

The first season of the anime debuted last year with eight episodes and centered on the Heartslabyul Dorm (based on Alice in Wonderland’s Queen of Hearts). The show is planned for three seasons. The game also has an ongoing manga adaptation.

As for season two of the anime, Takahiro Natori is returning to direct and handle series composition. Shin Kataga will co-direct. Yoichi Kato is the main writer, while Haruka Nakana and Akane Sato are adapting Toboso’s character designs. The show will once again be animated by Yumeta Company and Graphinica.

The series follows Yuuken Enma, a boy who finds himself summoned to another world through a magic mirror (yes, this is an isekai). He gets to know the school’s top students while looking for a way home. The gacha game the show is based on has proven massively successful, generating over $715 million since its release in 2020. It has been downloaded over 6 million times worldwide.
