LUCENA CITY — Harmful sulfur dioxide (SO₂) emissions from Taal Volcano in Batangas province have significantly declined, while seismic activity remained low, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported on Tuesday (July 28). In its morning bulletin, Phivolcs said only 518 metric tons (MT) of sulfur dioxide were emitted from the volcano’s main crater over the past 24 hours, a level classified as weak emission. The latest measurement marked a notable decrease from the 741 MT of SO₂ recorded from July 22 to 26.
