Many feared dead from 7.1-magnitude quake in Kumamoto, Japan

A powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Kumamoto, Japan, causing widespread damage, injuries and fears of deaths. A shopping mall collapsed and the walls of Kumamoto Castle were damaged. Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi pledged a full government response.
