BBC radio presenter ‘struggling to hold it together’ ahead of Naga Munchetty replacement
A BBC Radio 5 Live presenter who is being replaced by BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty was overcome with emotion as she announced her departure.
Rachel Burden, who has been hosting the flagship show for 15 years, announced on Tuesday (28 July) that she will be leaving the show in December, ahead of Munchetty’s takeover in January.
Burden told co-host Rick Edwards, who will also be stepping down, that she is “trying to keep herself together”.
Composing herself, she said: “We have both been thinking a lot in recent months about what comes next, and I guess how we meet sort of shifting priorities in our lives, and we have decided it is time for us to step down from this show and move on to new things.”
