The Karnataka Lokayukta Police have trapped an official of the District Health and Family Welfare Department in Yadgir for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 through a UPI transaction.

According to a press release issued by the Lokayukta Police, the accused, Shrikant Bhavimani, Administrative and Programme Assistant, had allegedly demanded 20% commission from a beneficiary for releasing an incentive amount under the National Quality Assurance Programme (NQAP).

The complainant, Parameshwar Jamadar, 39, a farmer from Chitali village in Aland taluk of Kalaburagi district, alleged that although an incentive of ₹1,39,750 had been sanctioned to his account under the programme, the official demanded a commission for facilitating its release.

Following the complaint, the Karnataka Lokayukta Police registered a case (Crime No. 07/2026) under Section 7(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018), on July 27. During the trap operation, the accused allegedly accepted ₹20,000 through UPI and was caught by the Lokayukta team.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Siddaraju C., led by Deputy Superintendent of Police J.H. Inamdar, with the participation of Police Inspector Siddaraya Balurgi and other Lokayukta personnel.
