All India Congress Committee national spokesperson Kuldeep Rathore on Wednesday (July 29, 2026) asked the BJP’s national leadership to clarify whether the controversial remarks made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on “Gen Z and female students” represent the party’s official stand.

Addressing a press conference in Shimla, Mr. Rathore said Ms. Kangana had made derogatory remarks about the appearance, character and conduct of young women and female students participating in the recent protests and had even used words such as “gutter” to describe them. “Such remarks have deeply hurt the dignity and self-respect of every daughter and sister in the country. Such language is completely unacceptable from an elected public representative, particularly a woman Member of Parliament,” he said.

“The BJP’s National President should immediately clarify whether the party agrees with Kangana Ranaut’s views. If these are not the party’s views,” he asked, “why has no action been taken against her so far? Immediate disciplinary action should be taken against her,” he said.

He further said that if the BJP leadership failed to clarify its stand, the people of the country would naturally conclude that this disrespectful language towards young women and students reflected the BJP’s actual mindset.

Mr. Rathore alleged that it was the arrogance and insensitivity of the Central government that had forced young people across the country to take to the streets. He asserted that if the suppression of students and youth continued, the Congress would not remain a silent spectator and would continue to perform its responsibility as a vigilant Opposition.
