Shocking aerial footage revealed a dystopian Mad Max scene unfolding on the streets of Los Angeles as an alleged car thief weaved in and out of traffic, almost crashing into a gang of illegal dirt bikers.
The Los Angeles Police Department advised Angelenos late last night that a high-speed pursuit entered the Downtown area on Tuesday and was terminated near 8th and Hill Street by Skid Row.
The vehicle was reported stolen near Tobias Avenue and Saticoy Street, and the driver took off through North Hollywood around 5.28pm, a spokesperson for the LAPD told the Daily Mail.
Video footage captured harrowing moments during the chase, revealing the unidentified driver weaving through rush-hour traffic in a stolen white Mercedes SUV.
The video resembled cinematic scenes from the Mad Max franchise, a post-apocalyptic film that follows a police officer patrolling the streets after society collapses.
At one point in the terrifying pursuit, the white SUV approached a group of dirt bikers illegally occupying the road.
While one biker popped a wheelie, the stolen vehicle pulled up alongside them in the right lane. The car then hugged the shoulder as the biker rode dangerously in front of it.
Footage revealed at least eight dirt bikers overtaking the freeway as the stolen vehicle attempted to weave through traffic.

The driver was also seen running red lights and driving into empty oncoming lanes for about 20 miles.
The pursuit lasted for over an hour until the unidentified driver crashed into a parking structure Downtown.
The occupants bailed on foot, and the LAPD, with assistance from the K-9 unit, established a perimeter to locate the suspects.
Multiple suspects were detained, and one remained on the run as of Tuesday night. A spokesperson for the LAPD told the Daily Mail on Wednesday that one individual was arrested on felony evading charges.
Three suspects have since been taken into custody. Their identities have not been released.
Police have not reported any injuries or major collisions in connection with the high-speed chase.
