This week, across France, more than 220,000 people were evacuated from their homes, fleeing wildfires that are burning all across the country.
The Guardian’s Paris correspondent Angelique Chrisafis reports from Bordeaux, the historic centre of winemaking country, as the flames approach the outskirts of the city. We hear from evacuees camped in hangars in the city centre, waiting to know when they can go home.
