US forces conducted strikes against Iran on Wednesday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement.

"US forces began launching strikes against Iran at 8 p.m. ET today. The strikes are a powerful response to yesterday's attempted Iranian attacks on US forces based in the Middle East."

Early on Thursday morning, explosions were reported in southern Iran, including the border city Abdan, Bushehr and the strategic island of Qeshm.
