Masonry rains down on busy high street as roof above Iceland supermarket collapses

Footage captured the moment the roof above an Iceland supermarket gave way, sending masonry plummeting down to the busy high street below.

On Tuesday (28 July), emergency services rushed to the scene in March High Street, Cambridgeshire after receiving reports of a collapsed roof.

Video shows a cloud of smoke rising from the debris following the collapse, which eyewitnesses described as sounding like an “explosion”. The shop was immediately evacuated, as was the building next door.

A police cordon was quickly put in place, and structural engineers arrived on Wednesday (29 July) to assess the damage to the building.

No injuries were reported, Cambridgeshire Police confirmed.
