The Final Girl Support Group

According to Deadline, Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is attached to direct a film adaptation of Grady Hendrix’s The Final Girl Support Group at Paramount. Previously reported to be in development as a TV series at HBO Max with Charlize Theron and Andy Muschietti as producers, the outlet states Theron is no longer involved, but Muschietti is still financing the project under his Double Dream label. The story concerns a “Los Angelesâbased therapeutic support group for six ‘final girls’â survivors of mass-murderer rampages whose experiences inspired the slasher franchises that saturated horror cinema in the 1980s and â90s, earning them minor celebrity.”

Thud

Deadline reports Piper Curda, Sujata Day, Sterling Sulieman, Steve Agee, Karan Soni, Dot-Marie Jones, and Katie Parker have joined the supporting cast of Thud, the “darkly comedic supernatural romance” starring Sarah Michelle Gellar as the Grim Reaper and Rudy Pankow as the Devil.

The Conjuring: First Communion

Meanwhile, The Wrap reports Charles Parnell, Marta Kessler, and Caleb Dolden have joined the cast of The Conjuring: First Communion in undisclosed roles.

Possession

Deadline also has word Madeline Brewer, Emory Cohen, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez have joined the supporting cast of Parker Finn’s remake of Possession starring Margaret Qualley and Callum Turner.

Buddy

During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Casper Kelly revealed his new horror film, Buddy, was inspired by Dora the Explorer and Blue’s Clues in addition to Barney & Friends.

I come from Adult Swim where we do little 11-minute shorts, so getting to do a movie I wanted to really have other layers. I wanted to have emotion, even if the premise is absurd. I want you to be scared. I want you to be laughing, but also be moved. And hopefully, we did that. Knock on wood.

Children of Blood and Bone

Children of Blood and Bone author Tomi Adeyemi recently took to social media to state her time working on the film adaptation was “the worst thing [she] ever had to live through.”

Iâm not going to speak on what I endured to make it through the young adult trilogy, and Iâm not going to speak about everything that I also suffered through or endured to make the adaptation a reality. Iâm actually only going to speak about what happened after I left that set of my own film adaptation, hyperventilating and sobbing. There are many witnesses, so itâs not really a secret. I came back to America and suffered such severe somatic pain and so many panic attacks. I knew it was so bad that I would never ever be able to watch this film, and I made peace with that.

But as it is being marketed…and as I am still being antagonized behind the scenes, which is where I hoped all of this would stay, itâs become apparent to me that reality needs to at least be made known, so that you guys can understand how this film, which I worked on to make it a little better for us to be alive, is also the worst thing I have ever had to live through.

I donât wish to speak on it anymore. I donât know if thatâs possible. I understand that I have a public presence, and that this is a global project. Itâs probably useless posting a video. I really donât know. I donât do things like this, but I also understand that being silent about it is making the pain a lot worse. And even though it feels awful to share this, itâs better to share it and have it known and understood before I see a bunch of you for this new book. So please understand, I never want to hear about this project again. I donât have anything to say about the people who made it. I do not care anymore. Iâm trying to move on. This video might make it worse, but I donât know how it can be any worse. So Iâm just going to share that and let it live.
