Motorcyclist dead after collision with garbage truck along SRP
CEBU CITY, Philippines — A 25-year-old motorcyclist died after a collision with a garbage compactor truck along the South Road Properties (SRP) Northbound in Barangay Ermita, Cebu City, early Friday morning.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on July 31, according to a police report from the City Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

SRP collision
The police report initially classified the incident as reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
The garbage compactor truck was traveling northbound along the SRP Bridge, occupying the inner lane.
The motorcycle, meanwhile, was positioned along the inner lane of the southbound road, facing north.
The truck’s front left portion struck the front of the motorcycle. This included the headlight, bumper, and stepboard.
The impact threw the motorcycle rider approximately 6.60 meters from his vehicle, according to the report.
Dead on arrival
The rider sustained severe injuries and was immediately brought to the Cebu City Medical Center for emergency treatment.
However, he was declared dead on arrival at 2:35 a.m., as confirmed by the attending physician.
As of this writing, police have yet to give an update on the liabilities and current condition of the parties involved. The CCPO-TEU continues to investigate the case, and a full spot report is expected to follow.
