Two mini-textile parks were inaugurated in Karur district by M. Vijay Balaji, Minister for Handlooms, Textiles and Khadi, on Friday.

The two mini textile parks were part of the eight sanctioned for the district. Two such parks were already functioning in the district. So far, 19 mini textile parks have been sanctioned in the State, according to an official press release.

The scheme seeks to cement Tamil Nadu’s reputation as a major textile destination in the country by offering financial assistance to entrepreneurs for establishment of cutting-edge infrastructure in clusters. Financial support up to 50% of the eligible project cost, subject to a maximum of ₹2.50 crore, is provided under the initiative.

The parks inaugurated on Friday were located at Kodangipatti in Karur Municipal Corporation limits and at Uppidamangalam.

Meanwhile, at a Reverse Buyer-Seller meet organised by FaMeTN (Bureau for Facilitating MSMEs of Tamil Nadu) in association with SICCI here, 15 Memorandum of Understandings were exchanged by various companies in Karur. P. Mathan Raja, Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, was present.

The two-day event, which concluded on Friday, saw the participation of 186 MSMEs and signing of 53 MoUs with 25 international buyers for business worth ₹12 crore, an official release said.

Milk and Dairy Development Minister C. Vijayalakshmi and Collector C. Muthukumaran were present.
