Bengaluru-based Primus Senior Living, a residential and eldercare provider specialising in independent, assisted retirement communities, and HDFC Capital have partnered to create a senior living platform worth ₹2,000 crore across six cities.
According Primus Senior Living, the platform aims to accelerate the development of institutional-grade senior living communities across six Indian cities, including Bengaluru, and help establish senior living as a mainstream asset class. These assets, available in ownership and rental-led formats, would offer flexibility and accessibility to senior citizens who are looking at comfortable living without the trouble of owning and managing homes.
Adarsh Narahari, founder & Managing Director, Primus Senior Living, said, “We are witnessing strong demand from seniors seeking active, independent and community-oriented lifestyles. HDFC Capital’s conviction in the senior living opportunity reinforces our belief that this category is poised for significant growth and institutionalisation in India.”
Vipul Roongta, CEO, HDFC Capital, said, “The sector continues to face a shortage of long-term institutional capital for the development of purpose-built senior living communities despite favourable demographic trends.’’
India’s senior population is projected to reach 346 million (over 34 crore) by 2050. However, the sector still remains substantially underserved.
