The Supreme Court has directed the Ministry of External Affairs to appoint a nodal officer to assist families in identifying and bringing home the remains of Indians killed while fighting in the Russia-Ukraine war. The court also ordered support for DNA testing, compensation claims, legal aid and documentation, while stressing that funeral rites should not be delayed.
