The head of Ukrainian diplomacy stated this on X, as reported by Ukrinform.

"A hell of a night in Kyiv. At least 9 people were killed and 23 injured as a result of Russia’s barbaric attack with three dozen ballistic missiles," Sybiha said.

He emphasized that this was the second massive strike in just two days. Unable to achieve its objectives on the battlefield, Russia is intensifying its aerial terror against civilians.

"Ukraine urgently needs additional air and missile defense systems and interceptors. The speed of decisions and deliveries is critical. Every decision that strengthens the defense of Ukrainian skies saves human lives, while every delay leads to deaths and war crimes," the minister stressed.

Sybiha added that the battle for Ukraine's skies will determine the future course of the war.

"The stronger the air shield over Ukraine, the closer peace becomes," he said.

According to Ukrinform, during the night of August 1, Russian forces launched a massive missile strike on Kyiv. The Darnytskyi, Holosiivskyi, Dniprovskyi, Pecherskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Solomianskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts of the capital came under ballistic missile attack.

The attack killed nine people and injured at least 30 others, including four children aged 13, 14, and 17.

Apartment buildings, private homes, non-residential buildings, a school, supermarkets, a car wash, and vehicles were damaged.
