The State government would take stringent action against those who had allegedly misused the erstwhile Dharani portal to illegally secure lands, Minister for Revenue Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said on Saturday. He also announced that the government would soon unveil a comprehensive policy on assigned lands.

Addressing a press conference at the State Secretariat, Mr. Reddy said all land transactions carried out under the previous Dharani portal and subsequently migrated to the Bhu Bharati system were being examined through a fast-track process. He alleged that large-scale irregularities, including illegal mutations and unauthorised transfers of government land, had taken place during the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government’s tenure.

Mr. Reddy said the government was conducting a detailed inquiry into the prohibited land list adding that allegations made by Opposition parties were also being examined impartially.

Rejecting allegations that the Congress government had added fresh lands to the prohibited list, the Minister said the same list available on the Dharani portal had been submitted to the High Court. Claims that undisputed private lands or house plots had been included in the list were “completely false”, he maintained.

The Minister said Telangana had nearly 85,000 acres of assigned land and the government was working on a comprehensive policy after examining issues relating to both urban and rural areas.

Taking aim at BRS leaders, Mr. Srinivasa Reddy alleged that they were unable to accept the construction of the Indiramma Towers project and were therefore making baseless allegations against the government.

The Minister also assured to release the final bills for Indiramma houses completed in rural areas even if the Centre failed to release its share of funds, ensuring that beneficiaries were not affected.

On revenue collections, Mr. Reddy said the recent revision of land market values had generated 10% to 20% higher revenue than expected. Revenue from the Stamps and Registration Department had increased from around ₹13,000 crore annually when the Congress government assumed office to nearly ₹15,000 crore in 2025. The revenue was expected to reach about ₹18,000 crore during the current financial year.
