Elina (WTA No. 10) lost in two sets to Alexandra Eala (28) of the Philippines—3-6, 4-6, according to Ukrinform.

The rivals spent about an hour and a half on the court.

This was their second head-to-head match. In mid-June of this year, Eala defeated Svitolina by exactly the same score in the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin.

Next week, Elina Svitolina will compete in the WTA 1000 tournament in Toronto (Canada), where she is seeded ninth and will begin her run in the second round.
