Kris Aquino bares failed treatment, pain as she marks mom Cory’s death anniversary

Kris Aquino remembered her late mother, former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino, on the 17th anniversary of her death as she bares a “cruel” leg pain as a result of her recent failed treatment for her autoimmune diseases, with a hope that her sons won’t lose their mother in the same way she did.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, Aug. 1, Kris recalled losing her mother 17 years ago, saying that while their family had accepted her passing, the loss remains deeply felt.

“We accepted her death intellectually because we witnessed how much she suffered. But can someone you cherished ever be forgotten?” she wrote.

The former president died of cardiorespiratory arrest on August 1, 2009, at the age of 76, following complications from advanced colorectal cancer.

Kris shared that she and her sons marked Cory’s death anniversary this year in different ways. Josh visited her grandmother’s grave at Manila Memorial Park, while Bimby rushed home after appearing at “Eat Bulaga” 47th anniversary celebration to stay by Kris’ side as she underwent another treatment.

“I promised my sons I was going to fight until the end,” said Kris. “I have never given details about the treatments that failed, the nights I cried until sunrise because the bones from 3 inches above my knee all the way to my ankle and up to the soles of my feet hurt with such cruelty.”

“I broke my rule and sobbed in Bimb’s arms. No child, especially one raised by a single parent should ever see the pain their mama or papa goes through because to worry is ours and not theirs,” she added.

Kris then shared that her next infusion is scheduled for Wednesday, as she ended her post with a prayer for her late mother.

“Mom, please continue looking after your baby? Because I have 6’3 & 6’2 giant babies who pray every day and believe that God does answer prayers,” concluded the actress.

Kris previously marked the fifth death anniversary of her brother, the late former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, with a visit to his tomb at the Manila Memorial Park on June 24. /edv
