On the night of August 2, residents of Saratov and the surrounding region reported explosions and a fire. The governor wrote that there were preliminary reports of casualties.

According to ASTRA’s analysis of footage from eyewitnesses, the oil refinery in Saratov was attacked and is on fire.

Rosneft’s Saratov oil refinery is one of Russia’s oldest oil refining facilities. As of 2023, its oil refining capacity stood at 4.8 million metric tons.

In total, the Saratov refinery has been attacked by drones at least 15 times since the start of the full-scale war.

Also, according to ASTRA, drones struck the Wildberries “Novosemeykino” logistics complex in the Samara Region.

According to publicly available data, this Wildberries logistics complex opened in May 2025; it covers an area of approximately 130,000 square meters, and once fully operational, its capacity is expected to reach 120 million units of goods.

Among other reports, there was news of an attack on Engels, which is located on the opposite bank of the Volga River from Saratov. A base for Russian strategic bombers is located there.

As reported by Ukrinform, yesterday President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the destruction of the sanctioned Russian container ship Yanina and the infrastructure of three oil refineries in Bashkortostan.
