NRLW: Warriors fall short in tussle with Titans

The Warriors wāhine clawed their way back into the contest only to fall agonisingly short in a 18-16 defeat to the Gold Coast Titans in Wagga Wagga.

The second loss of the NRL-W season for the Kiwi side came down to a dramatic finish in the Magic Round clash.

The Warriors remain the top four for now, with undefeated Broncos topping the table. Gold Coast cemented third place with the win.

Down 18-0 with 16 minutes remaining, the Warriors unlocked their attacking flair, much of it down to Mele Hufanga on the left side.

The comeback began with the Kiwi Ferns star who charged onto a ball form former Broncos teammate Gayle Brougton to score her first try as a Warrior.

Hufanga's try was followed by Ivana Lauitiiti who was next in the scoring action, before Stacey Waaka came through pulling in an incredibly high kick to score in the corner.

Pushing for a late try, the Warriors were stopped by the clock, held back by relentless Titans defence.

Earlier Gold Coast hit the front with Ivana Lolesio outpacing the Kiwi defenders to chase down the grubber kick for their first try.

Back rower Evania Isa'ako busting through scored before the break with 24-year-old Indie Bostok scoring just after halftime.

Next round the Warriors host the Knights in Hamilton.
