LUCENA CITY – Two motorcyclists and two pedestrians died in separate road accidents that occurred in Quezon province on Tuesday, July 21, police said.
The Quezon Police Provincial Office reported on Wednesday that one of the incidents occurred along the Quirino Highway in Barangay San Luis II, Guinayangan town, at around 10:40 p.m.
Police said motorcyclist “Rolly,” 46, was traveling along the highway when he collided with a truck driven by “Roel.”

Rolly suffered severe injuries and was rushed by rescuers to the Maria L. Eleazar General Hospital in the town proper but was declared dead on arrival.
Roel was taken into police custody and is facing criminal charges.

In Candelaria town, 21-year-old motorcyclist “Christian” died after he crashed into the rear end of a parked truck along the bypass road in Barangay Masin Sur at around 12:40 p.m.
Police said Christian was not wearing a protective helmet and did not have a driver’s license. He sustained fatal injuries from the impact and was declared dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old pedestrian identified as “Bryan” died after being struck by a passenger bus along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Talisay in Tiaong town early Tuesday morning.
The victim sustained critical injuries and was declared dead on arrival at a local hospital.

Police said the pedestrian suddenly crossed the highway, resulting in the collision.
Authorities said both parties involved in the incident are currently negotiating an amicable settlement.
In General Luna town, another pedestrian identified as “Mark,” 35, died after he was struck by a van driven by “Edito” while crossing the highway in Barangay San Ignacio Ibaba at around 8:15 p.m.
Mark was brought to a hospital in neighboring Catanauan town but was declared dead on arrival.

The van driver remains under police custody as authorities continue their investigation. /mcm
