It was yet another memorable day for Team Petronas TVS Racing as its star rider emerged the overall winner of the MRF 2W Rally of Coimbatore, the opening round of the MRF MOGRIP – FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship for two wheelers, here on Sunday.

The stages set were quite new and tight and technical for the riders but that did not bother Tanveer much.

Riding a TVS RTR 450cc, the Mysuru racer had to fight a bit hard at the start to gain that early lead. And, once he did, there was no turning back. He kept increasing it and eventually reached home much to the joy of his team.

“Coimbatore has been my favourite track for a very long time but, this time around, the stages were long, pretty fast and slippery. It was pretty close in the first but thereafter I pushed myself midway through to take the day’s honour,” said Tanveer.

Shlok Vikram Ghorpade of Team Hero Motosports had to rest content for the overall second spot.

Team Petronas TVS Racing’s Aishwarya Pissay finished on top in the women’s class and Deepan Kumar in the Star of Tamil Nadu category.

Joseph Mahalson, the Coimbatore District Manager, MRF Limited, gave away the prizes.
