Two helicopters collided in Greece’s Attica region as they fought to contain a wildfire sweeping through a mountainous coastal area bedecked with forests.

Video footage broadcast on Greece’s ERT TV on Sunday showed one helicopter strike the other from above, sending it crashing in flames to the ground.

A search and rescue operation for the two-person crews of the Bell-type aircraft, which had earlier taken off from a military airport at Elefsina in West Attica, retrieved two members with minor injuries, the Hellenic Fire Service said on Sunday. The two others were pulled unconscious from the wreckage and transported to hospital, it said.
