Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 authorities said on Monday the second round of counselling had commenced, with access provided to students for choice filling of seats and institutions.
The window for choice filling for the second round will be open till 5 p.m. of Wednesday (August 5, 2026). Students between ranks 37,977 and 1,31,093, with aggregate cut-off marks falling between 171 and 135.75, will be eligible for this round. In the horizontal reservation category (7.5% quota for government school students from Class VI to Class XII), students between ranks 2,571 and 18,036 falling within the same aggregate cut off range will be eligible. A total of 93,116 students are eligible for the second round, a release added.
The committee had issued 28,979 provisional allotment to students, including those who chose upward movement, in the first round of counselling. Students who secured provisional allotment through upward movement are required to join the respective colleges on or before August 14. The fees paid by them and the certificates surrendered at the TNEA Facilitation Centres (TFC) would be sent to the respective colleges, the press release said. Upward movement is an option where students can hold on to their allotted seats by paying the fees at the TFCs while keeping open the option of being allotted a higher preference course or college in case it opens up subsequently.
