SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur— A landslide triggered by heavy rains temporarily blocked a key road connecting several upland communities in Ilocos Sur on Monday morning (Aug. 3), prompting local disaster response officials to conduct immediate clearing operations. The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of nearby Salcedo municipality reported that the landslide happened along the Balidbid–Bulala-Leguey Road extending toward Barangay Madarang in Sigay town and the municipality of Gregorio del Pilar, particularly near Bago Resort.
