She wrote about this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

“Today I have decided to resign as Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States of America. This is my own decision, dictated by personal circumstances that I have mentioned previously. Representing Ukraine in Washington at a time when it is fighting for its very existence has been the greatest honor of my life. Just as it was an honor to pave the way for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union as Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, and to advance reforms in the justice sector as Minister of Justice,” Stefanyishyna wrote.

She expressed her gratitude to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “for this trust and these opportunities,” adding that she counts on his understanding and support for this decision.

“It is important for me to make such decisions on my own, especially since the main points of the plan I came here with have been fulfilled,” Stefanyishyna wrote.

In this context, she mentioned three things: increasing the supply of American weapons and maintaining support “precisely when the political climate in Washington was shifting against us”; enshrining this support in laws “that will outlast any change in administration”; and the shift in Ukraine’s role from a country that receives aid to a country in which investments are made and whose technologies are purchased.

“What the team has accomplished is enshrined in law and in the very relationship between our countries, and therefore does not depend on who holds office—what lies ahead is simply work to further strengthen our positions,” the diplomat wrote.

She also thanked the team at the Ukrainian Embassy in the U.S., the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and “everyone with whom we have worked side by side over the years.”

“I will continue to work for Ukraine and our victory wherever I can be of use. Glory to Ukraine!” Stefanyishyna wrote.

She added that she would soon comment separately and publicly on the questions that have recently been raised in the media.

As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Olha Stefanishyna from her post as Ukraine’s ambassador to the U.S.
