Traffic queued at the scene of a serious crash on State Highway 1 in Northland, near Maromaku.

Motorists queued at the scene of a serious crash on State Highway 1 in Northland are being told to expect delays.

Two vehicles crashed about 4.30pm, blocking the road between Maromaku and Kawakawa.

One person is believed to be critically injured and has been airlifted to hospital.
