Foodpanda rolls out P20-M aid for riders amid rainy season
MANILA, Philippines — Food delivery platform Foodpanda Philippines has earmarked about P20 million to support its delivery riders during the rainy season.
In a statement on Tuesday, the company said the package covers June to August, including P10 to P15 extra per delivery for riders who work in mild to moderate rain.

Foodpanda said these top-ups are meant to compensate riders for slower travel, traffic congestion and longer routes brought about by wet road conditions.
“Our priority during severe weather is to equip riders with the right information and complete autonomy to decide when it is safe to be on the road,” said Kyrinne Viaje, head of Foodpanda Logistics Philippines’ country fleet health.
“When operations are active during mild to moderate rain, we want to ensure those who choose to log on are fairly compensated for the extra time and care required,” Viaje added.
Foodpanda added that 100 percent of customers’ tips through the platform will go to delivery riders.
Apart from the financial support, Foodpanda also said it will automatically pause or limit deliveries in areas hit by severe weather or flooding.

Foodpanda said it continues to conduct year-round rider safety training, covering defensive riding techniques, emergency preparedness and safe driving practices during adverse weather.
As heavy rain is expected to slow deliveries, Foodpanda urged customers to be patient and keep their contact details updated to facilitate deliveries.
