FC Barcelona is angry with its striker Ferran Torres for using the media to send messages about his contract situation according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources.

Barça has been surprised by Ferran making it clear he has an offer from Paris Saint-Germain out in the open, and also hinting that he doesn’t feel valued by his current club.

The Catalans now want certainties from the number 7 brought via conversations in person and the “natural channels”, as opposed to “public loudspeakers”.

These should happen when he reports for preseason duty next week under Hansi Flick, with renewal talks a focal point of any sitdown.

Recently scoring the winning goal in the World Cup final, Ferran is nearing free agency with his terms set to expire on June 30, 2027.

PSG is heavily linked to making a move for him this summer, and Barça - which is short of strikers - cannot renew the 26-year-old until September owing to Financial Fair Play issues.

Over in the country where he became immortal by netting against Argentina, however, Ferran has been busy making appearances on American television in the meantime.

“Right now I have a contract with Barcelona,” Torres said on the Today show. “But, honestly, in football you never know what can happen.”

"I’m waiting to make the right decision. I still don’t know. Yes, I have a dream club. I just want to be happy,” he further added.

Then on CNN, Ferran said: “Right now the only thing I know is that on August 12 I have to be there and train with them, so we’ll see what happens,” as per reporting for preseason camp at Barça.

“You never know because in football everything can change in a minute, so I have to be prepared for everything,”.

It was perhaps through his comments made to Sportico that Ferran drew the most ire, however, by pretty much admitting that PSG has come in for him.

“It’s always good when these teams want you,” he said. “I have a contract with Barcelona. It’s true that in football you never know what can happen. But the good thing is that since I have a contract I can wait and decide on my own.”

In his Jerry Maguire “Show me the money” moment, Ferran quipped that Barça has “to show that they love me”, by coming to negotiate with him.

“At the end of the day, it’s all about talking,” he stressed.

Whether Ferran stays in the end will have a lot to do with how Flick plans his squad. Also on Monday, the German confessed that the Valencia native’s plight influences how the attack lines up in 2026/2027.

With Robert Lewandowski having fled to the Chicago Fire, Ferran is currently FC Barcelona’s only striker amid failed attempts to land Julian Alvarez. If Ferran switches allegiances, the Blaugrana might have to rely on Lamine Yamal or Dani Olmo as a false 9.
