Dennis Trillo says staying with Jennylyn Mercado in one network an ‘easy’ decision

Dennis Trillo said remaining with GMA Network alongside his wife, actress Jennylyn Mercado, has always been an “automatic” decision for them as a couple.

The actor renewed his contract with GMA on Tuesday, Aug. 4, marking 23 years as a Kapuso. After the contract signing, Trillo said he and Mercado did not need a lengthy discussion about their decision to continue their partnership with GMA.

The actor noted that staying with GMA allows them to continue supporting each other’s careers while building their family life. Mercado also renewed her contract with the network last year.

Meanwhile, Trillo also opened up about the pressure that comes with being one of GMA’s long-standing or A-list stars.

“Pressure palagi.

So, kailangan, kumbaga, tumitindi ‘yung kompetensya.

Looking back on his 23-year journey with the network, Trillo said he has gained more confidence compared to when he was still starting out.

The actor is set to star in GMA’s upcoming action-drama series “Hari ng Tondo” and the GMA Pictures fantasy film “Amir,” which is part of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2026 lineup.

For “Amir,” Trillo said the film aims to share more stories about the struggles of Filipinos, particularly those affected by the Marawi siege.

The actor added that the film will show the experiences of people who endured difficult conditions during the conflict, including those who hid underground for months. /edv
