Iron Fist star Jessica Henwick has said her character Colleen Wing won't return in Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, despite talks with Marvel.

Wing previously appeared in the Netflix series Iron Fist, Luke Cage and The Defenders, and eventually inherited the Iron Fist mantle from the show's lead character, Danny Rand.

Fans had hoped that Colleen Wing would make her return in the upcoming third season of Daredevil: Born Again, which is expected to reunite the main four Defenders for the first time in almost a decade. However, Henwick has said that while she had discussed returning in the role with Marvel, she ultimately opted to pass on the opportunity.

"I've said multiple times over the years, I would love to come back. I know that everyone is back this season. I'm not in this season," Henwick told Inverse. "We did have discussions about whether I should go back this season. But for me, her story ended with her going off into the sunset. She has the Iron Fist. She's got Misty by her side. Daughters of the Dragon is happening. She ended on a really great note."

Any future storyline involving Colleen needed to be worth "unpicking" that ending, Henwick continued, rather than having her return only to be "just stood in the back of the shot."

"I'm just not interested in bringing her back unless it's worth sort of unpicking that happiness, because obviously she can't be happy on a TV series," Henwick concluded. "If she's back, something's gone wrong. I would absolutely love to come back, but it would just really have to be the right story."

Famously, Henwick previously turned down an appearance as a different character in Marvel movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, in the hope that Colleen Wing could still return in future. (This was before Daredevil: Born Again came along and began reviving Marvel's Netflix era in full force.)

It sounds like Henwick is still keen to make a return as Colleen Wing someday, then, but don't expect to see her when Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 debuts in spring 2027. The only question now, however, is whether Daredevil: Born Again will continue on and get a Season 4.

The past week has seen Marvel scrap its planned Season 2 of Emmy-nominated series Wonder Man, leaving the brand's live-action TV future in doubt. Currently, just Daredevil: Born Again and Vision Quest are on Marvel's upcoming TV slate, and both have already finished filming. No further series or seasons are yet believed to be greenlit.
