The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday berated a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bode Goerge for describing himself as a founding father of the party.

Wike said George claims to be a founding father of the party but PDP has failed to win any election in Lagos State since 1999.

The Minister spoke during his monthly media chat while dismissing Goerge’s allegation of him interacting with judges and building houses for judicial officers in the FCT.

According to Wike: “The same Bode George who was the founding father of PDP since 1999, the conscience of the party; what conscience does he have that since 1999 the party has not won one seat? You are not founding father but using the structure of people in other states.

“Founding father that since 1999 till today can’t show anything, I brought this party to my own state and what is the result? what is the progress that we have made in those states? Nothing, yet you are a founding father, you don’t answer founding father by mouth.

“Bode George has been talking about the judiciary, with all due respect, that’s why I said that elders should be careful the way they make statements. In our tradition we don’t talk to elders anyhow but in politics there is nothing like that.

“In our tradition, there are things that when an elder speaks, you don’t comment but in politics, there is a struggle for power so I won’t just allow you to say anything, you will get it back.

“Bode has forgotten that when he was charged with corruption in Lagos State High Court, the day of the judgment he sewed uniform for his people and they were dancing. Why would you sew uniform if you don’t know the outcome of the judgment. Unfortunately for him, he was convicted.”
