With the revised rural employment programme promising increased work opportunities and better income support for rural households, Bidar Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Girish Badole on Tuesday reviewed the implementation of the Viksit Bharat Grameen Rural Ajeevika for Guarantee Mission Grameen (VB-G RAM G) Scheme during a visit to Janawada village in Bidar taluk.

Inspecting the ongoing nala desilting work taken up under the scheme, Mr. Badole interacted with workers and field officials, reviewed NMMS attendance records and explained the key changes introduced in the programme aimed at strengthening livelihood security in villages.

Mr. Badole said the annual employment entitlement under the VB-G RAM G scheme had been increased from 100 to 125 man-days, while the daily wage had been revised from ₹370 to ₹382. The revised provisions will provide greater employment opportunities and income support to rural families, he reiterated.

A job card holder could now earn up to ₹47,750 annually under the revised wage and employment structure. As many as 318 new works have been sanctioned across Bidar district under the scheme this year, Mr. Badole added.

Focus on transparency and durable assets

Emphasising transparency in implementation, Mr. Badole directed field-level officials to ensure that the NMMS attendance is recorded twice daily without fail to facilitate timely and accurate wage payments.

He said the scheme would focus not only on wage employment but also on creating sustainable rural assets. Individual beneficiary works, such as soak pits, farm ponds, cattle sheds and agricultural field bunding, would be encouraged, while community works, including lake desilting and water conservation projects, would be prioritised, he added.
