SEOUL, Aug. 4 (Yonhap) -- Following his club's preseason victory over a South Korean opponent Tuesday night, Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany said he was happy with the level of intensity in the exhibition contest.

Teenagers Felipe Chavez and Bastian Assomo scored a goal apiece for the Bundesliga champions in their 2-1 win over Jeju SK FC of the K League 1 at Jeju World Cup Stadium in the southern island of Jeju.

All three goals came in an entertaining first half before about 22,000 fans. The second half was a bit untidy with both clubs making wholesale substitutions -- there were no limits placed on the number of subs in this contest -- and Bayern Munich resting many of their first-team stars for the most part.

Kompany, though, said he still enjoyed the way the match played out.

"The impression overall was that both teams played with a lot of energy, and both teams showed that you can make a very good game out of a friendly game," the Belgian tactician said in German, with his comments interpreted by a Bayern staffer. "Also, we had some players who had not even played for the first squad on both sides. It was quite positive for us. It was good intensity, and we didn't have any injuries."

While many of the regulars were held out of the starting lineup or did not even make the trip following the FIFA World Cup, Bayern's South Korean defender Kim Min-jae started the match as captain, much to the delight of his supporters in his home country.

Kim, however, was the first player on either side to be subbed out, as he was replaced by Tim Binder in the 36th minute.

With Bayern scheduled to play Aston Villa in Hong Kong on Friday, Kompany said he wanted to manage Kim's workload.

"Min-jae is a really important player for us. He has to play longer than 60 minutes probably (against Aston Villa), and it is not possible to play two games at that stage of the preseason," the coach said. "It was very good for him to be on the pitch and also to be captain for Bayern Munich tonight. But we didn't want to take any risks regarding injuries."

Kompany praised the work of the two young goal scorers.

"It is really important for me to push the young players and to give them the opportunity to play," he said. "We always try to help the boys on their way. I think it is always very helpful when you can learn something, and I am sure they could do it today, and they can do it again Friday."

Asked about his experience in Jeju, Kompany responded in English that he enjoyed watching a K League 1 match between Jeju and Incheon United on Sunday as much as visiting a beach and a coffee shop on the popular island.

"I loved watching the football game to see different ideas and different cultures of football," he said. "Also, it is always a surprise that so many people (outside Germany) are supporting Bayern Munich and know everything about the club and the players. I got a lot of little gifts, teapots, dried tangerines and everything. So overall, a positive experience and for that reason, I think these moments are important as well."
