British grandmother becomes oldest female wing walker - just a year after suffering a stroke

A 97-year-old grandmother has broken her own Guinness World Record to become the oldest female wing walker.

Betty Bromage, who lives at Pegasus Homes’ Latheram House later-living development in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, took to the skies on Tuesday (4 August), a year after suffering a stroke.

For her sixth wing walk, Bromage raised money for the stroke unit at Cheltenham General Hospital, which took care of her when she was ill.

The 97-year-old first tried the extreme sport, which involves moving along the wings of an aeroplane during flight, in 2016.

In 2022, aged 93, she first received the Guinness World Record for being the oldest female wing walker.
