The Central University of Rajasthan has established its first learner support centre at a women’s college in Jaipur to promote the open and distance learning (ODL) and online modes for half a dozen academic programmes. The centre will expand access to higher education and provide academic support to learners.

The university, headquartered at Bandar Sindri in Ajmer district, has recently secured the 79th position in the Nature Index 2026 Research Leaders ranking, having been included among India’s top 100 institutions.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between Central University of Rajasthan’s Registrar Amardeep Sharma and Kanoria P.G. Women’s College Principal Seema Agrawal on the university campus, formally recognising the college as the first centre for the ODL and online courses.

Vice-Chancellor Anand Bhalerao said here on Tuesday that the new centre would help expand the university’s academic footprint. “Through the ODL programmes and a strong network of learner support centres, the Central University of Rajasthan’s vision is to make higher education accessible to every learner, anywhere,” he said.

The proposal for establishing the first centre in Jaipur was approved following the recommendation made by a three-member committee, which visited the college to assess its infrastructure and other academic resources.

The learners may pursue ODL and online courses simultaneously with a regular academic programme, and these courses were also ideally suited for working professionals, Prof. Bhalerao said.
