TDP Politburo member Kalava Srinivasulu has said that the coalition government has successfully implemented the Thalliki Vandanam scheme for the second consecutive year, in stark contrast to the mere pressing of buttons during the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) regime.

Addressing the media at the TDP central office on Wednesday, Mr. Srinivasulu said the government has credited ₹10,120 crore directly into the bank accounts of approximately 42,70,842 mothers under the scheme to benefit 67,47,190 students, without any scope for corruption.

He noted that the possibility of children discontinuing education due to financial constraints was high in poor families having two or three children, and this has gone due to the implementation of Thalliki Vandanam, which was one of the ‘Super Six’ promises made during the 2024 elections.

Mr. Srinivasulu recalled that Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had promised to provide benefits under the Amma Vodi scheme to every child in a household, but he had betrayed students and their parents by reneging on the promise.

During the YSRCP’s tenure, financial assistance under Amma Vodi was disbursed only four times, covering 4.20 million students, whereas the coalition government was extending the benefit to 6.747 million students.

The Chief Minister has extended the Thalliki Vandanam benefits to an additional 17,000 anganwadi children as a compassionate gesture, he said, adding that the scheme has benefited children from the Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and minority communities.
