Multiple people have been killed after a mass shooting broke out in a secluded North Carolina neighborhood, police said.
Shots rang out around 8.30am on Wednesday at a home in Prospect Hill, a quaint community located in Caswell County that is about 45 miles outside of Greensboro.
Deputies with the Caswell Sheriff's Office and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) confirmed that several people were killed, but did not comment further.
Police said there is no threat to the small community at this time and that it is believed to be an 'isolated incident.'
All three agencies have since gathered outside in front of a home, WRAL News reported.

No victims have been identified and there is no information on a possible suspect.
It is unclear if the people involved in the deadly shooting knew each other.
