Earlier this summer, Steven Spielberg returned to the movie genre that made him a household name: science fiction. Disclosure Day is Spielberg's first sci-fi action flick since 2018's Ready Player One (and before that, War of the Worlds in 2005), and it's his closest attempt in decades to recapture the magic of 1980s classics like E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Now, after a successful box office run, Disclosure Day is coming to home video. The movie is currently available to rent online, with 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD versions arriving on Aug. 25. To celebrate the news, Polygon is sharing an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from the home release, which reveals new details about one of the film's central mysteries: What's the deal with Margaret's powers?
In Disclosure Day, Margaret (Olivia Blunt) is one of two people gifted superhuman powers by alien visitors to Earth as part of their plan to eventually reveal themselves to humanity. While Blunt's co-star, John O'Connor, plays a man with the innate ability to understand math and machines, Margaret's empath powers are harder to pin down — and arguably much more powerful.

In the behind-the-scenes video, Blunt explains how they conceived of Margaret's powers in the film, particularly her ability to look into someone else's eyes and instantly know everything about them:
"There's different iterations of these abilities, like when she eye-locks with someone... I think we've experimented with different versions depending on who she's eye-locking with and how comfortable she is with these powers... When she's able to drop in on them and read everything, and everything that causes them pain or joy... It can be deliberate, or it can be happenstance, or it can surprise her, or it can surprise the person... That shapeshifts throughout the course of the film as well."
