The Sumy City Military Administration reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
"Within eight minutes overnight, the aggressor's army dropped eight guided aerial bombs on the northern and central parts of Sumy. One of the bombs was intercepted by air defenses," the statement said.
The strikes hit residential neighborhoods with well-developed civilian infrastructure.
A total of 13 people were injured. All received qualified medical assistance and are reported to be in satisfactory condition.
The attack damaged a shopping mall, five stores, windows in ten apartment buildings, three private houses, and five passenger cars.

The Sumy Regional Police said on Facebook that, overall, three people were killed and 19 others were injured across the Sumy region over the past day as a result of Russian attacks.
Russian forces struck 37 settlements, using guided aerial bombs, attack drones, FPV drones, multiple launch rocket systems, artillery, and mortars.
Police investigative teams worked at the strike sites to document evidence of war crimes.
In the Putyvl community, a 40-year-old woman died after succumbing to severe injuries sustained in a Russian drone attack. In a separate drone strike on a vehicle, two men, aged 71 and 60, were injured.
In the Buryn community, a 37-year-old man was injured when a Russian drone struck a vehicle.
In the Hlukhiv community, a 20-year-old man was wounded in a Russian drone strike on a vehicle, while an 18-year-old and a 49-year-old man were also injured.
In the Stepanivka community, a 53-year-old man was injured in a Russian drone attack.
A 13-year-old girl who had been seriously wounded in a Russian drone strike on a house in the Znob-Novhorodske community on June 22 died in hospital.
A 59-year-old man also died in hospital after suffering critical injuries in a Russian drone strike on his home in the Krasnopillia community on August 1.
Police have opened criminal proceedings under Article 438 of Ukraine's Criminal Code, which covers violations of the laws and customs of war, in connection with each reported attack.
