Mentorque Productions’ folklore film ‘Biringan’ sets 2027 release

Mentorque Productions, the company behind the films “Mallari” and “Uninvited,” is bringing another Filipino horror-folklore story to the big screen with “Biringan.”

Mentorque CEO John Bryan Diamante, aka Bryan Dy, took to Facebook on Wednesday, Aug. 5, to announce the film’s release.

“Years ago, I had a dream,” Dy wrote alongside a poster for the film. “A young boy, running for his life, stumbled into a puddle. In that instant, I saw a place I had never seen before: ancient yet familiar, breathtaking yet quietly unsettling.”

“Looking back now, I don’t believe I found Biringan. I believe Biringan found me,” he added. “Today, I made a promise. This is our promise. This is where the journey begins. Samahan niyo kami. #Biringan2027.”

The film producer said he is now ready to bring the legend to the big screen for people to experience it themselves.

“After years of searching, imagining, and believing, Mentorque is finally ready to begin the journey of bringing my vision of Biringan to life—not to explain the legend, but to invite the world to experience it,” he wrote.

Biringan is a mythical city from Samar folklore, often described in local legends as a mysterious place that appears and disappears, a hidden world beyond reality.

Meanwhile, Mentorque was founded by Dy in 2010 and has produced films including the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Mallari,” a horror film based on the life of Filipino Catholic priest and serial killer Severino Mallari, and “Uninvited,” a mystery thriller that served as a 2024 MMFF entry.
