NAGT Triathlon Series opens registration for Camotes Island return

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Registration is now officially open for the 2026 National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) Series, which also marks the return of the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) to the Camotes Islands for the first time since 2017.

The NAGT Series will feature three disciplines: triathlon, aquathlon, and duathlon. The duathlon and aquathlon events for adults and kids, respectively, are scheduled on October 24, while the centerpiece triathlon race will be held on October 25.

Set to be one of the biggest multisport events in the province this year, the national series will feature the National Age Group Duathlon, the National Age Group Aquathlon for the Under-15 and Super Tri Kids divisions, and the National Age Group Triathlon.

Although the final venue has yet to be announced, the event is expected to be held at the pristine white-sand beach of Santiago Bay in the Municipality of San Francisco, Camotes Island.

The event is expected to draw athletes from across the country, from first-time racers and aspiring young talents to seasoned age-group competitors chasing valuable championship points.

TRAP last staged a triathlon event in Camotes in 2017. This year’s edition returns on a much bigger scale through a continued partnership with the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission (CPSC), led by chairman Dr. Rhoel Dejaño, as both organizations seek to further establish the island as a premier destination for endurance sports and sports tourism.

Aside from the competition, participants can also look forward to experiencing the scenic beauty of the Camotes Islands, with organizers promising a memorable weekend of racing, camaraderie, and island adventure.

Interested athletes are encouraged to register early and secure their slots for one of the country’s premier multisport events.

Known for its well-paved roads, peaceful communities, and pristine white-sand beaches, Camotes has long been regarded as an ideal venue for endurance sports.

The island previously hosted the NAGT Cebu Leg in 2017. Dejaño recently met with the mayors of Camotes’ four municipalities—San Francisco, Poro, Tudela, and Pilar—to discuss the hosting of the championships and other sports development initiatives.

The race is expected to attract some of the country’s top triathletes, including several members of the national triathlon team and youth national team, to the unspoiled beaches of Camotes.
