Video glasses are getting a lot nicer and a lot cheaper, and Viture’s newest pair fit in that sweet spot perfectly. The Viture Pro 2, released today as part of a fifth anniversary collection, manages to bring the price down drastically from the previous generation while also amping up sharpness and reducing weightâtwo very important things in a pair of glasses.
The Viture Pro 2 costs $299, putting it on par, price-wise, with similar pairs from RayNeo, like the RayNeo Air 4 Pro, and Xreal’s subbrand X by Xreal, which makes the a01+. For context, the first-gen Viture Pro debuted at $459.
There are a few things making that price feel even more competitive, including the fact that the Viture Pro 2 look significantly improved across the board. According to Viture, the Pro 2 are brighter (1,600 nits of peak brightness as opposed to the 1,000 the previous generation was rated for) and lighter. The Viture Pro 2 clock in at 63g, which is 20% lighter than the first generation. They’re also leaner; Viture says they’re the thinnest glasses it’s released yet.
The Pro 2 have what Viture calls UltraClarity 3.0, which is meant to improve sharpness and reduce visual distortion. The Viture Pro 2 sport the same resolution as the previous generationâ1,920 x 1,080 per eyeâbut a slightly wider field of view, offering 50 degrees versus its predecessors’ 46 degrees.
Despite the Pro 2’s thinness and lightness, it’s not shedding much in terms of performance; in fact, it retains notable features from the last generation, including a diopter on the side of the glasses for adjusting the glasses to fit your eyesight, and support for 3DoF through a companion app called SpaceWalker. The former of those retained features is particularly interesting for people who are nearsighted. Viture says its diopter could help most of those people skip prescription inserts entirely.
On paper, the Viture Pro 2 appear to be a pretty solid package competitive with other big players that I’ve mentioned before. I’ll have to try a pair to see how they stack up, but it’s clear that XR/AR glasses are having a moment, and that moment is definitely giving consumers a bevy of great options. The Viture Pro 2 are available starting today via Viture.com and Amazon.
