Two women from Nepal who had recently arrived in Bengaluru to work as domestic helps reportedly ended their lives near Jakkur in north Bengaluru on Thursday (August 6) morning, prompting the Yelahanka police to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

The deceased have been identified as Sirjana, 22, and Rita, 23, both natives of Nepal. According to the police, the women had come to Bengaluru around 15 days ago.

The incident came to light when morning walkers noticed them dead near a tree and immediately alerted the police.

A team from the Yelahanka Police Station rushed to the spot, conducted a preliminary inspection, and recovered the bodies. They were later shifted to a hospital for a postmortem examination. The police said the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the deaths are yet to be established.

Investigators have informed the victims’ family members and are examining all possible angles, including the events leading up to the incident.
